MQL (marketing qualified lead)
An MQL, or marketing qualified lead, is a lead that has shown enough interest through marketing activity, such as filling a form or engaging with content, to be worth further attention. It is warmer than a raw lead but not yet ready for a direct sales push.
An MQL is a lead that marketing has judged promising based on behavior: they downloaded something, attended a webinar, or repeatedly visited your site. They have raised their hand, but they may not be ready to talk to sales just yet.
The MQL label helps teams hand off leads at the right moment. Marketing nurtures MQLs until they show buying intent, at which point they become sales qualified and get passed to a person, or an AI team member, to pursue the sale.
